Renaissance Weekend with PortableMBA combines our two most popular programs. Build career-long relationships in an intense environment. Start 2009 with new knowledge and zest.
8am-6pm, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday January 2, 3, and 4, Palo Alto, California. 30 hours for $30 plus purchase of the PMBA book and refreshments at budget cafes. Participants must commit to the entire weekend. To apply for admission fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Click here for the detailed schedule.
The "real" Renaissance Weekend is an invitation-only event that attracts the Clintons and other famous people and costs thousands. The Chalk Renaissance Weekend costs about $100 ($30 tuition, $25 book, ~$45 for snacks and lunches). The main criteria for admission is a commitment to attend and actively participate for the full 30 hours.
This is our second Renaissance Weekend; it is also a Study Group for The Portable MBA from the prestigious
Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Bringing a copy of the
fourth edition to the class is required. Click here to see the titles of the PMBA Chapters. This is our third PMBA study group and the first time we have combined it with the Renaissance Weekend.
Employers
ask for an MBA because of the knowledge gained and the character built in the
high-pressure boot-camp atmosphere. This program provides an overview of business knowledge, a story* for resumes and job interviews and a small powerful local network. In
addition you'll become members of the growing PortableMBA
mutual-career-assistance alumni association. We'll even throw in some bootcamp!
This study group is
also an excellent vehicle for those who earned an MBA in the past and would
like a refresher from a textbook updated in the new millenium.
This study group does
not provide university credit, does not confer degrees, and does not provide
continuing education units. It does provide business knowledge, skills,
career-long networking contacts, a Chalk Institute certificate, and fun!
*Here is a possible
resume/interview story: "2009: completed the
30-hour Renaissance Weekend based on The Portable MBA from The Darden
School at the University of Virginia. The Darden school is one of Business
Week's top-ranked graduate schools and was ranked #1 in Executive Education
Course Design in the world by the Financial Times (2005). Team participants
included executives and managers from XXX, YYY, ZZZ, etc. Projects included a
turnaround plan for a manufacturer, a business plan for a robotics startup, and
the structure for an international strategic alliance."
