Based on The Portable MBA by Robert Bruner et al, the six sessions of this workshop will cover:

Session 2 The Money Context: Introduction to Finance, Economics, and the Future

Session 3 Being Where You Want To Be in Business: Marketing and Strategy

Session 4 Making the Trains Run on Time and Keeping the Customer Happy: Operations Management

Session 5 Leadership, Managing People, and Business Ethics

o

Session 6 Big Picture Business Thinking: Strategic Alliances and International Business
This program combines lectures, exercises and team projects. Participants can invest the minimum 50 hours or as much as 500 hours depending on their schedules. The instructor will provide plenty of additional reading, essays, case studies, and projects for those with extra time available.

Overview
At the end of this workshop, participants will receive train-the-trainer guides so that they can share the techniques that they’ve learned in this workshop with others in their workplaces. Each participant will also be given a coupon good for a one-hour follow-up consultation with the instructor.

About Marie Highby
Marie Highby is an entrepreneur, writer, and coach. Currently, Vice President of Strategy for FieldDay Solutions, Marie is also a co-founder of 2MULES™, a political coaching and consulting organization, and an acquisitions editor for the Happy About book series. Earning her stripes as a university instructor, Marie taught business communications and business finance at San Jose State University from 1987 through 2005 and was in charge of SJSU Professional Development’s Technical Writing and Communication Program. In addition to leading the PMBA—Preview of an MBA workshop series, Marie will be teaching Master Techniques for Powerful Writing on September 30. She also has substantial banking experience. Marie’s degrees include an MA in English from Duke University and an MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia along with a certificate in coaching from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology.
